Free overnight moorings in the Solent area for upcoming trip?

From memory, Newtowns £8.50 for a short stay and £16 upto 11m overnight.

anchoring is only a voluntary donation. Buoys creak and make for a less settled night sleep anyway.

Also add keyhaven as an anchoring location at the west end of the solent.

On a side note: I was at Lymington Town Quay Saturday night. They've just introduced a weekend surcharge.
Someone is clearly sitting down and thinking where else can we increase fees.

They've charged more for Friday and Saturday nights for several years now - at least since they bought in their tablet "ticket machines".

To be fair to Lymington they also re-invest. Shower facilities (which you don't have to pay extra for like Yarmouth), free internet, ditto paying at Yarmouth. There a number of other mooring options in Lymington and for pontoon mooring I don't think you would call it expensive.

As has been said there are a number of free anchoring options in the Solent including my favourite Newtown Creek.

If you go in marinas and dont pay why not go in the coop when closed and shop ,iam sure it is done
