free electronic charts

I recall reading in one of the boating mags that there was a site where you could download electronic charts - does anyone know the site name?

basically only free charts are USA / New Zealand etc. - where Hydrographic Offices provide what public pays for !!

If you want UK charts - sorry - unless you go pirate - you pay !!

They don't come free as the software must be purchased,
however NavPak Pro includes world wide C-Map coverage in Offshore and General scales.

NOAA etc do come free when downloaded from the NOAA / DoD sites in US ...

The questionb was about free charts - the software to display is another matter. As many know S57 is increasing across the board to single standardise the charting for shipping ... but charges will be applied by various such as UKHO etc.
