Frank Perree - Mariner

We are trying to find out about my wifes great grandfather, Frank Perree, born in jersey in the mid 1800's. The 1901 census lists him as 'mariner' and living in Liverpool. Family talk describes him as a Sea Captain. Beyond this we know nothing.

Can anyone tell us anything? We know we coould go to Kew and look through the microfiche, but we are a long way from London

The societe jersiase is the Jersey Societey they have a well developed geneology section try them on www.societe-jersiase.org. You could go to jersey and look up all of the info directly, birth details, baptism mariage etc and can go back quite a long way or I believe you could pay them to research it for you.

Are you sure he was from Jersey and not Sark as it is a very comon surname in sark.
