So after much form filling and PCR testing arrangements, today I visited France on my own boat. It was a bit of a scouting mission to establish all the requirements Brexits/CV19

Time, tide and PCR/isolation/work logistics did not give me long ( 2 hours). It’s a start, I will be back with friends / family soon!

Nice!
I've not been to Carteret for about 10 years but heard there is a huge sandbank on the approach now...?
Also, that marina looks new, is it the same one refurbished or a new one?

The new marina area is where the old drying berths for locals was. Old gate removed. New gate further down the estuary after the fishing boats.

There is also a new pontoon adjacent to Hotel La Marine for big boats.

Neighbour here has just got his yacht back from Dunkirk, its been almost 18 months since he last seen her.

He was worried about importing all those mussels that had been growing on his hull, didn't know where he was going to get all the potatoes to make the moule friet ;)

Anyway she's back and been hauled out for a thorough scrapping.

His boat was just over the border, Dunkirk used to be in Belgium and the border runs about 12km east of Dunkirk, the boat is now at Ostend.

He was complaining about how slow his boat sailed with all the 18months of mussel growth on it, it's a Dutch built 34ft sail boat.

After all he’s scrapping her?! ?

Ah yes, good memories of that area. Bombing over from St Catherines on springs, sneaking onto some local empty mooring as the tide was dropping off the shelf then walking over the mud to get to shore for the day.....followed by the reverse on the afternoon flood tide!
