yes, I agree, I was going to post a reply to this before saying something like
well, er, this one. But thought it might be a little obvious really.

I have posted other sites, here is a <font color=blue>LIST</font color=blue>
uk.rec.sailing Good for the odd argument or if you want to be abused
Multihull.com The most over moderated site on the web, you are not even allowed to post other url's for fear of what I don't know.
Many class sites and owners clubs, but too narrow for any decent conversation.
I really like YBW, I have talked to some great people here, in the UK and away. I can read what people following the dream are up to, the tribulations of those looking after wooden classics for the next owner. I can join in and find out what the petrol heads are doing and find many actually like playing about in boats too. The practical side on PBO is a great wealth of info for people who have done it and have the Tee shirt and then you have the institution that is scuttlebutt.
I have bought many bits and pieces from on here and have tried to help out where I can.
To be fair, after much looking I never go anywhere else now. And Kim pays me for these promotions to this site. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
The site you posted this on is without doubt the best I have encountered for connecting with other people of similar interests. Hang around and I bet you'll find it the same.
Another excellent site for sailing is www.onpassage.com. Some interesting reading there.

hey woofy, how did you get a link in blue that isn't clickable, or is there an automatic no-links-to-the-competition filter lurking here?
and yes, i'll endorse the comment about themultihull.com - i once asked the sysop to relay a private message to another user (wanted to share copyright protected info about a design we were both building) he gave me a bollocking for my temerity and banned me.
You can easily get things in blue by using the mark up tags <font color=blue>lke this</font color=blue> and in italics too or <font color=blue>both together</font color=blue>. There are lots of other <font color=red>c<font color=blue>o<font color=yellow>l<font color=orange>o<font color=green>u<font color=gray>r<font color=purple>s<font color=black> too and bold and <font size=1>small</font size=1>.
<hr width=100% size=1><font color=purple>Ne te confundant illegitimi.</font color=purple>
and its great if you <font color=yellow> write stuff in yellow, cuz its really difficult to read </font color=yellow> but not as much fun as white /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
If its not worth going elsewhere, I shall stay and be abused on here. I might even learn how to use the machinery. thanks rich.
P.S better be careful I dont think kim likes having derogatory comments made about his baby.
FWIW .. IMHO Kim & Paul et al do a great job and keep everything in check before it degenerates into general abuse etc... long may it continue. A facility like this is worth a lot.
As stated by others, this is probably the best forum but if you want specialist forums such as diesel forums, or sail repair forums, then see the following link for some of these:-
Have you visited the Blue Water Cruising Site <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.onpassage.com>http://www.onpassage.com ?

Come along children - felt tip pens, pretty colours - now how about settling down to some homework (or that long list of jobs your boat undoubtely generates) ? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
<hr width=100% size=1>a pragmatist is an optimist with a boat in the UK - but serious about not being in the UK !
The Cruiser Log cruiser's forum has been upgraded to new software and now hosted in the U.S. Some interesting threads developing there. It also has a VERY busy free crewfinder.
