Crew needed for boring bit up East Coast from Port Edgar to Inverness. Old 25ft wooden boat, no creature comforts, cuppa soup and Mars Bars for the lucky applicant. Return fare if successful. Canal bit a possibility.
Why dont you go the other way through the Forth and Clyde Canal. Had a look at the lock on the River Carron the other night and I have got to say the lock and the berths there are quite impressive. Talking to the lock-keeper they are now starting to get boats going through to the Clyde. Which ever way you go enjoy your trip and the Mars bars.
a) by calling Montrose...absolutely no facilitities but they'll park you on the commercial ship's quay and treat you like you arrived on a liner. High street not far away complete with useful range of shops.
b) by calling Peterhead and getting a shock that such a modern marina can be tucked into a harbour full of huge oil support ships and trawlers.
c) by calling Lossiemouth and being charmed and awed by the stories to be told in the museum by the leisure berths in this former fishing port.
If you've done it before, apologies for teaching to suck eggs. Have fun.
So you've had enough of the Scottish east coast already - can't say I blame you. I travelled that route once and don't fancy doing it again so, much as I'd like to crew for you and Sally, I am afraid I must decline.
I hope Sally is in good health and sound of bottom
