Reading the recent post from Daka now Dacarak should we change our names with a) any new boat, b) when we are fed up with them or c) when we have annoyed enough people!

If it is c) how many do we need to annoy before a name change?

Just so long as each post says " The ar sist formerly known as-----"

OOPS! Did I make a typo?;)

You've missed option (d) which is "when YBW moves to new forum software and insists on using your login name as your user name" - which I think is the option that applies to Daka :D

Yes indeed, my old boat was called Dacarak, South African festival where lots of joints (daka) are smoked until you are in a smashed state (dacari) which was the name of my old tender.

I didnt name any of my boats which were apparently mis spelt anyway ( I am a tight Northerner and dont see sense in throwing away £100 on a new name !).

Now my forum name used to be DAKA, when the new forum changed all the names I was automaticly changed to dacarak.

I thought I would leave it as some scuttleburks did seam to be picking on DAKA just for the sake of it.

I felt uneasy about posting on scuttleburks as dacarak and I have asked Dan at least twice to change me back to DAKA .

I realize that many scuttleburks dont appreciate my interpretations of col regs but the last post was about RYA interpretations of col regs and just because they mirrored my views it should not have been an excuse for scuttleburks to ignore sound advice.

I usually sail on the East coast and the attitude towards getting out the way of shipping in the Humber for example is somewhat different to the attitude of those who only venture into the solent, which is where I am usually found in a mobo to witness suicidal sailing beyond belief .
Just look at this example !

Amazingly small warship there ... or HUGE yacht ... strange because whenever I go anywhere near shipping my mast hardly reaches their sides ...
I guess us yachties must seem huge to you! ;)

Actually it is a small warship. It's a new way of dealing with defence cuts. Rather than having fewer warships they're keeping the same number of half scale ones.

If you're particularly short don't go anywhere near an RN recruiting office.

Dacarak,

It's all a question of perspective.

Oh not that old argument again, note the shadow and scratch on the frigate.
This argument took 6 months last time and I eventually tracked down Vela and posted photos of damage to his bow rails !

Horrific!! Totally amazing that the yacht's priority was to reef before collision, thereby reducing the power of the impact----and the impact of you pic(and your argument!

Mmmm. I hope they hung the Captain of the frigate for steaming without his ensign flying. The yacht in both pictures is exactly the same picture, the helmsman position, flog on the head sail are identical. On the first picture there is a rendering line between and through the bows of both yachts where the sea has been smudged together from two pictures.

Anyway back to the OP. You should never change names if at all possible. Then again, who really cares.

Look again! Different sail Nos & one has 1 hull porthole and the other has 2!! Different sailboats but accept that still picture could be photoshopped

Dunno about Blowing's idea, but what is odd is the difference in shadows on the big grey boat. In pic 1, there a shadow on the chimney breast behind the bridge which suggests the sun is high and left, whereas in pic 2 the shadow of the foresail on the ship's side suggests the sun is high and right.

Maybe caused by the frigate turning to port, and that would have pushed the stern towards the WAFI. Strange too that there are no jolly jacks racing aft to see WTF is going on.
