Hello everyone, can anyone tell me the best way to pickup and drop a fore and aft mooring (dont say get a marina berth), it must be the worst part of the day first to cast off then to pick the #@#\;# thing up .
Ideas greatfully received.

Chris.

I had one of these things 8 years back. Sometimes after mooring with a crosswind I would have welcomed some heart massage.

I found that every different condition needed a different approach, with the worst cross winds requiring hooking on the bowline then getting in the dinghy with a long line to get the stern attached and then cranking it in on a sheet winch. My one also had the added hazard of a line joining the 2 piles together( in theory to make it easier) and from time to time this would become entangled in my fin keel rudder.Horrible things.

I now have a swinger, better for the boat and me.
