Hi folks,
Does anyone know where I might find a Ford Sabre service manual for an 80HP. I'm looking to do some DIY servicing.
I have found a Ford Lehman manual but from the photo's and illustrations it appears to be a different layout.

Alternatively, does anyone know what Oil Filter to use and what grade of oil?

Thanks

D

I put one here

some time ago. If any use feel free to get.

Grade of oil is easy as 'any' good engine oil today will by far exceed the recommendations. I'd suggest a multi grade like SAE 20W-40, certified for diesel, and avoid synthetic. Some manufacturers have a range of 'Classic' oils to serve those traditional engines. I'd look for these -

Thanks for that guys. I noticed on the rocker cover thatthere is a number stamped on it - 703F-6582-AAA. Does this mean it is a 2703F engine? Where is the manufacturers plate mounted on these engines?

Hi Donie,

I have the Sabre 120s and use Shell Rimula R3+ 30, I got the oil filter (paper type - messy to change!) from the local Ford dealer (just quote the base engine - 2712E)

That's a Dover rather than a Dorset, later and better ! Shell Rotella 20/20 was the development oil for these. Very simple engine and a good one to "cut your teeth" on. One thing I would suggest is to take a picture of the engine, then if you have to remove the injector pipes, you should put the clips back in the same place, it used to cause pipe failure if not.
