Have recently tried to start a 1600 ford wortham blake engine i aqquired a while back, the problem i have is that when i connect the fuel up once i start turning it over on the starter and the fuel is pumped through, it just pumps out of a hole in the carb /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and even if i pour a little down the carb it still wont start. It has a spark and i can only presume the comrpession is good. The only thing i can think may be wrong is the order of the leads as they came not atached to the engine ?

If there's fuel coming out of the carb it sounds like the float valve is stuck and flooding the engine - are the plugs wet with fuel if you take them out?

As the engine has been stood it may be the carb has furred up inside and the jets and emulsion tube is blocked, remove the carb and blow out the jets, use new petrol as it goes off after a few weeks.
