18 Motorboats between 40ft and 90ft taking part in the Norhaven Rally from Ft. Lauderdale to Gibralta via Bermuda and the Azores.

I've just finsihed reading the day by day reports. Fantastic! Why am I working? hmmmmm. If you dont mind a bit of a long read I really recommend a look at

http://www.nordhavn.com/rally/underway/commentary.htm

It also seems that the Nordhaven 57 which was the main escort boat is coming on to the Hamble where their new sales office is going to be set up at Hamble point.

I am not connected in any way with Nordhaven - I just think it was a fantastic thing to do

Hi Martin yes seen them in Gib . Our F36 was hired by an American Mag to be the photo shot boat last Saturday as they came in. Sturdy looking machines they are too.

You can read about the crossing, and other long-distance information, in a forthcoming issue of MBY. We did the Bermuda to Azores leg (ten days at sea), and it was rough as hell...even a highly-experienced and salty colleague from an American mag was sick as a dog (snigger)

I've been trying to keep up with the reports as well, Martin and I think it was quite some achievement. Also, I think I'm right in saying that one of Nordhavn's VP's did a circumnavigation in in one of the company's 40footers. Not a mention in any of the Brit mobo mags though which was a shame
It's certainly set me thinking about these and other boats which might be suitable for long distance power cruising. As you say, dream on
