I already posted this on our marina forum so a quick cut and paste for YBW.
We were in SC for a couple of weeks from the end of April and we managed to find about three days of very calm seas and warm weather.
So we decided to go and have a look at the north coast of Ibiza - a kind of recce for a cruise we are planning later in June.
I had a quick chat with our local experts about where to visit and booked a night in San Antonio for us so off we went. 60 euros for Jennywren for the night but the price rises as you get nearer the high season.
It was late morning when we left but we thought that a short stop at the Columbrettes on the way would be good.
This was our recorded track for the three days (two nights) that we were away.
Unlike a trip we did last summer, the Columbrettes was calm and peaceful so we stopped for a cuppa and a swim.
After a late lunch and soon after encountering some whales, we pressed on to San Antonio - arriving at about 6 o'clock in the evening.
This is the harbour at San Antonio - seems to me to be a good place to regroup in June after our crossing.
However, unless you like bars and night clubs, I don’t think we will be staying long in June.
The following morning we were off to explore the calas.
This is a chartlet of our two days in Ibiza.
A couple of dolphins escorted us over to "Isla Conejers" the island on the other side of the bay.
Being a nature reserve, the island was deserted and the water was clear.
After a swim - yes it was warm enough - even at the end of April!!
we set off towards the north east of Ibiza.
Our destination was San Miguel or Cala Binirras for the night - a spot we had been recommended.
There are a few restaurants and bars in San Miguel so we stayed the night on the hook
San Miguel
The following morning we decided that the weather forecast was closing in and thought is would be more comfortable to be home in SC that evening.
But not before exploring a few more calas
The first was - Cala Binirras - came very recommended.
Apparently, the sun sets over this rock in the summer evenings - supposed to look like Queen Victoria
Then it was off to Cala Portinatx where it seemd a bit like anchoring in a "swimming pool".
The trip back to SC was in flat breathless seas and the passage was only broken by a few hundred dolphins feeding (yes hundreds - I've never seen so many).
Not bad for April
I believe it was snowing in the UK at the time.
Had to delay our return flight home due to the ash cloud - shame!!
