I need to recover some lengths of marine ply which form seat benches. Does anyone know a source of foam backed vinyl within say an hours travelling distance of Reading?

Additionally, the belt on my power assisted steering squeals. Is carburettor cleaner good for cleaning the pulleys?

Many thanks.

Carburettor cleaner wil not help with the belts as it dries off again almost immediately. There is a specific spray for this called Belt Dressing. No idea whats in it but it works wonders with noisy belts - permenantly. However just a word of caution. Why is the belt squealing? It may be excessively worn or perished and about to break, or it may need adjusting. Check out the cause as well as the symptom.

Slack belt may be cause. Belt dressing is mainly natural resin as used by violinists in sprav form available from wood work /Diy shops or engineering equipment sales outlets (which sell both belt drive engineering machinery and woodwork machinery)

take note of old harry

hes quite right, find the cause and cure it, belt too slack tighten it, belt worn replace it , still squeaking, pulleys worn, replace them, dont fanny around with patent potions fix the prob.
reminds me of those belts you can buy that you take a piece out to make it a different size, why not just buy the right one as a spare?
