Flood warnings as well!

I'm not on night shift, but we've come back late after a night out and i'm still off work, so I keep popping down to the river to see if anything is doing. Nowt to report yet. Barrier is closed though.

Impressed by the news of the efforts at Fox's.

Ipswich Quay has gone over the wall, and is now flooding in to all of the car park areas down there, where the octopus is.

I was so amazed by your post I went and checked my wife's boat. There is water on the roadway alright but the level in the New Cut isn't even up to the old bank top yet alone the 4feet they built on top. It appears the water is coming up the drains and sewers but most interesting of all the EA haven't even raised the velocity control barrier so obviously they are not expecting much.

Me too - but since I'm on night-shift that's not a bad thing. :p

Seriously though: anybody got any word on the situation at SYH?
We were there up to 0015. In west harbour (where you are) it came to within 6" of the top of the pilings and about a metre on the steel gantries out on the pontoons themselves.

We left as it was dropping. I see that it is up a bit now according to the Harwich sensor :ambivalence:

Jonathan Dyke and the yard hands were there overseeing things. Don't know what it was like in the main part - ok I think.

Just got back as I went down to see if I could check on the boat. Not a chance the water is way too high and this was around 40 mins to HW. For those who've been to the Coast Road you'll know how high this is. I've never seen it so high!

I just hope those on the house boats are ok.

Was very weird seeing the boats that were still moored up so high on the water!

Apologies for the Carp photos, it's an iPhone and it's dark.

View from the Coast Inn looking towards the Pontoon. The lights in the distance is the Pontoon!

Thanks for the update - I think :ambivalence::ambivalence:
Good to know staff are on hand. :encouragement: Would have been there myself if I wasn't working.
