Never actually sailed into Fleetwood. You would need an awfull good reason IMHO. Currents run very strong in the river and entry through the lock to the marina is only about an hour or two. Theres masses of spare room there though, which says some thing about it's popularity!!

You have a sheltered anchorage off Knott End Pier -East Side to await tide for lock.
Marina telephone number:-01253 872323.
Handy for shopping in the Freeport factory outlets shopping complex alongside marina.
Watch out for RoRo's in channel.

Welcome to the forum, please fill in some of the information on your profile, then I will know what type of boat you have.

The channel down to Fleetwood from the fairway buoy is regularly dredged for the Ro-Ro ferry port so you can get right down the channel past the ferry port usually with at least 5 metres depth. After the Ro-ro port there are moorings on the port side, or an anchorage behind Knott end pier. Good safe sheltered moorings, though river runs quite fast on ebb at about 3 kts on springs.

I frequently overnight at Fleetwood on my way back from the Isle of Man, then leave a couple of hours before high water to make the dash round the Fylde (at 20kts) to get into the Ribble for HW.

I have PMd you with mobile number if you require any further information. The entrance to the Wyre Dock Marina is only available for a couple of hours either side of HW on neaps, +3hrs on springs. Quite difficult to get ashore from anchorage. The owners of the two boardwalks on the Knott End side want to charge you for landing (the saddoes must sit there all day in the hope of raising £3), and if you use Knott End Pier the ferryman whinges. Fleetwood is more dire, Lifeboat mooring, Offshore Survival Jetty, Ro-Ro Jetty and ferry landing are all no-go. If you beach dinghy, someone will have to stay and watch it or scabby kids will adopt it.

Hi, I Am based in Fleetwood, the marina is actualy quite full. If you miss the tidal gate, say 2hrs after high water you can get a lock in for usualy an hour later, contact Fleetwood lock on ch12. If aproaching the lock a couple of hours before high water there is a waiting pontoon for you to use. The lock keeper guy is very good and will do his best to help you. Tides do run hard, and the turn to starboard from the river to the lock has to be done with caution for the first time. If you need any more info pm me, and I will help if I can.
