No excuse.
Slovenia and Croatia are at loggerheads about their maritime border (international court, arrests of fishermen, that sort of thing), but I've never heard of anyone getting stick because they're showing the wrong courtesy flag in the Gulf of Trieste. A reaction like that of the uptight little Englishman has no place in modern-day Europe.

Try either of these two simple tests.

Sail into Egyptian waters with an Israeli courtesy flag.

Sail into Turkey with a Greek courtesy flag.

Do be a sport and let us know how you got on!

That's what I thought, too. Do I gather that "Queensway Marina" is actually in that squalid little tax evasion and drug smuggling enclave we really ought to return to Spain? The one where everybody claims to be British but adamantly refuses to obey British laws?

Just wondering if you are being a bit rude about Gib because you want to make a point?

If not, can I help at all to dispell your misconceptions that Gib is a. squalid b. a tax haven c. drug smuggling place and d. should be given to another nation state?

Would be delighted to explain any problems you have understanding these points, I have direct experience of having lived there for many years. :encouragement:

Go on then, give it a go!

No problem.

Hardly squalid. The Town Development Committee have sanctioned a continual and sustainable building progamme. High profile foreign investment has transformed an abandoned Garrison town into des res. There is a villa in south district voted best in the world.

Fully compliant with IMF rules in all aspects of finance and disclosure. Easily googled.

Drugs are smuggled from Morocco right past Gib into Spain. Border control and seaward security make it pointless to route through Gib. same with illegal immigrants.

Gibraltar was ceded by Spain to Britain in 1713. In perpetuity. Although some seem to have trouble with that word. The population of Gibraltar want to remain British as is their right.

Hope that helps to dispel half truths and rumours that lead to totally false impressions and misunderstandings that are baseless in the real world.

You're welcome. :encouragement:

From a country where we have only one flag, which you fly on a boat/ house/ wherevever you like: it's rather silly!

A pedantic note: Malta is one of the small number of countries which has a distinct maritime ensign in addition to its national flag. Moreover, AFM vessels have a different Jack.
