Fixing things that aren’t broken - and now they want to send my gearbox to the factor

Hi, some came out from the filler cap, but it seems that as it 'finds' the correct level, further leaking isn't occurring. It didn't completely remove the issue in that the delay (especially with cold boxes) is still there, but at least it is now the same on both engines. So all good here (touches on wood).

Two liters sounds much, but on the other hand these boxes tend to get rid off excess oil, afaik. How low is the oil level at this point, does it still reach the stick? Does the leak diminish or stay constant even when closer to the two litters? I'm certainly no expert on these, but I do recall hearing of a modification where the leaking oil was directed to a bottle, so leaking is not unheard of. Not sure that applies to this box particularly, though.

Hi,

the oil level reaches below the minimum on the stick, when the engine and gear are off and cold.

by comparison, SB gear oil level is above maximum when cold.

I'm aware that it should be measured when it's hot, I'll have to do that tomorrow.

after cleaning under gear today, I can confirm that there is about 2 liters of oil that has been thrown out of the vent plug
