Fixing lee helm

I'm not sure it's been made quite clear in the previous answers, but it looks to me as if the tack has been shackled down to the front of the boom. This is a common problem with a Mirror and prevents the yard being hauled up vertically. The tack should have an adjustable line led to a cleat so that the yard can be pulled up vertically (agree with comments about not having a shackle here) and only then is the tack pulled down. When properly set a Mirrors tack will be a couple of inches above the boom.

I know where you are coming from, but boats that don't sail half decently only put kids off sailing.
There are small boats that sail well for kids, it should not be beyond the wit of man?
The basic boats for small kids from topper/laser/RS are pretty basic, but do work pretty well.
If the sail cannot be persuaded to work, I'd advise a different sail or a different boat.

I agree completely. Boats which sail badly put anyone off, especially beginners.

This our one in its element - going downwind!
