Fixed VHF Radio Broken, Bought New one What do I do re the MMSI

My Fixed DSC Radio has finally died on my Rib. This was properly registered with Ofcom and I have the licence. I have just logged in and found out my MMSI and Indeed call sign for that boat.

I have bought a new fixed DSC Radio this time with built in GPS (They get smaller all the time) to replace the broken one.

I think the process is simple but want to check with others and perhaps help others who might one day be in the same position.

Because the MMSI is registered to the Boat I think I simply put the MMSI Number I already have registered against that boat with Ofcom into the new radio and that is that.

Am I correct ?

You got it ! It really is that simple. The complexity comes when trying to change an MMSI in existing radio if moving boats.

Snap, what you have is a Ship's Radio Licence, so belongs to the vessel rather than a specific piece of radio equipment you have/had. You might even have multiple fixed sets onboard using the same MMSI.

If it will ever for abroad, especially on the EU inland waterways, it's probably worth adding the variations to the licence to get an ATIS code issued too.

Looks good. Did you ever make my mistake of trying to print the lettering from a different type of filament? My "shut off" plaques looked great until all the characters dropped off one by one. ;-)

Luckily the dashboard was all PETg and has been fine.
