Fitting Plastimo Roller Reefing Advice Please.

Nigel, many thanks...this was exacly the reply I was asking for, from someone who had actually done the job!

As you explain it, it all seems straight forward...esp now that you have oulined the pitfalls, but however does the 'roller' part of the gear fit over the forestay without having to remove it..the forestay that is??? Confused???? Mois??...not arf!

yes you do have to undo the forestay to fit the drum part but no big deal, i also went for the halyard diverter when the mast instaed of the "wheel" mine is also on a sigma 33 as per Nigels.

any way who wants to frigg about tightening bottle screws at the pointy end any way...surley that's the whole point of roller reefing etc.....so it can all be done from the cockpit?

As Lakesailor says, once tensioned, you shouldn't have to adjust it.

Did you tighten the locking nuts on the bottlescrew? If they are locked up properly it shouldn't undo.

Hi

I am also planning on buying a plastimo, but after reading this I am rather scared...:confused::confused:

Did you finally bought it?
It would be great if you were to document the installation on video!! :D

Andres
