fitting halyard winch to a mast

Not as such, but you can buy the required winch, a suitable winch pad (angled) from winch supplier, some monel rivets.
All you then need is to drill the holes with a suitable drill and beg/borrow a rivet gun.

You will be able to get winch pads from most spar suppliers.

Find one which will fit your mast and winch.

They are easy enough to fit.

You should insulate the pad (if it is stainless) from your mast and as has been already said fit it with monal rivets.

Use duralec on the rivets and self adhesive foam to insulate the pad.

I must say I prefer halyard winches on the cabin top where they are accessable from the cockpit. However.... Aluminium heavy sheet can be bent up to make a flat bracket to hold the winch. Note it is important that the rope arrives at the base of the winch from a direction lower than the base by a few degrees to avoid overides (described as if the winch were on a deck). good luck ...olewill
