Can anyone give me advice on the ability to fit davits on an Elan 344 to pick up the weight of a Ribtec 3.3m Rib with 15hp Four stroke Outboard fitted with console, fuel tank ,battery etc

What I would really like to know is whether I can purchase any suitable off the shelf davits capable of taking the weight - yet to be confirmed but presumably around 250kg all up.

Installation will not be easy as the boat has seats integrated into the push pit and a life raft with a custom made bracket that i would be reluctant to relocate (see photo) but it might be possible to mount them on the transom rather than the deck.

Any advice greatly received on which companies specialise in this at an affordable price with a manual mechanism.

Thanks in advance.

So, you want to fit a 3.3meter rib with a console and a big outboard on to davits on the back of a 34 foot yacht...

Have you thought about what this is going to do to the trim of the boat? That is a shedload of weight hanging out back...

Agree. Simply not practical to carry a tender that size and weight on davits on a boat like yours.

If you do want to pursue the idea of davits then Google the term and you will get a number of suppliers of both stock and custom equipment.

get a simple rubber dubby which you can either put on the coachroof or deflate and put in the locker plus a 2.2hp outboard like every sensible sailor with that size of yacht

I have davits on a Freedom 30 - far more sensible than above option. Hard dinghy rows, sails and launches/recovers in two mins. Also safer -emergencies such as man overboard or rowing kedge out quickly.

Not so much the idea of davits that is being questioned - it is then hanging a 3.3m RIB with a 15hp outboard. A small inflatable or a lightweight pram dinghy might be OK. However, you very rarely see davits on a boat of this type - which says something about the suitability.

Thanks all for very helpful comments. The reason I have a RIB is because of a relatively long trip with young children from the slip way to the boat on a river mooring. I could of course go for a larger inflatable but in the light of the comments will just stick with towing it behind as we do not travel very far.

I have a RIB with 9.9HP four stroke engine, have mounted a crane to lift the engine and stow it on the rail.
-The RIB tows better with less resistance w/o the engine.
-Should the RIB flip it will be easier to handle and no engine damage
