Fishin\'

I'm not a fisherman but it seems a shame to pass up the opportunity of a free meal /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif. When doing the Canaries-Caribbean trip, if I tow a line what could I expect to catch and what should I get in the way of tackle?

Paul.

Re: Fishin\'

If you get some line with hooks on spinners, preferably with pre-attached fish, you'll not be disappointed! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Fishin\'

If you are going to Southampton Boat Show there will almost certainly be a anumber of fishing equipment stands. Normally there is one just after the bridge on the left of the centre section who has a special deal for a full kit that he supplies to ARC customers.

Re: Fishin\'

Thanks chaps but what size of hook, what breaking strain and how long should the line be? Is there any point in having a rod or do you just tie the line to something convenient?

Paul.

Re: Fishin\'

30lb breaking strain should do, get a selection of hook sizes but 1/0 should be good. you could just buy a multiplier reel and fix it to the pushpit but a rod would be better when playing a fish more control etc. use a wire trace every time. If on the crossing you get flying fish landing on deck if you don't eat them (tasty) use them as bait, just hook in throught the mouth and out through the head and use a small piece of wire to hold its mouth shut, with a plastic muppet (squid) already on the line this will work well, nothing else required on the line, it should skim the surface fairly well back preferably in the face of a wave, this method should catch you something.
