Went up river (Thames) this Sunday with some friends in big fast twin engined stinky thing... SWMBO much prefers.. and well I have to admit its a lot less work that sailing.
Lest Limehouse at about 2, opened up throttles and soon started to plane got up to 24 knoots before slowing past St Kats, pottled up river to about Putney, where lack of water (1.5 to 2 metrews, made boat owner nervous so we turned about and went of dopwn stream.. seems that rowers are the number one hated people on the river.
Anyway on the way down heard a pan pan, someone in the water near Chelsea Bridge.
We headed that way, but were over taken by police and resue boats and helicopter over head.
All took place on chanel 14, which the barrier guys also use, so very garbled mixed up conversation.
Saw casualty in back of police boat looked like he either jumped or went for swim (tide running 5 knots upstream) and then thought he'd save himself by clinging to end of pontoon rather than the side,
Anyway after that bit of drama, continued back toward Limehouse waving at the trip boats and pretty girls on the bridges/bank... swmbo didn't appreciate that either.
Back at Limehouse at 5, followed by barbecue and beers.
All iun alla great day out.
