Excellent weekend trip across to Cherbourg as a trial for longer summer runs.
Weather was lumpier than expected on the trip across. From letting go lines to tied up with beer in hand was 3.5 hours. Princess fitted the name in stainless during the week, so now feels more like our boat (pic).
Glorious day on Saturday, lying in the sun (pic) and then putting some running-in hours on a new Yam 9.9 (didn't get the Honda 2hp running right). Didn't quite work out whether there was a speed limit in the Petit Rade but as everyone ignores the 3 knot limit inside the marina we didn't worry too much about flying around outside.
Bought a case or two of Petit Chablis and introduced son #1 to Ris de Veaux which he gamely ate despite some reservation.
SW wind in our favour on way back so an easier cruise home, with a strange cloud formation over IoW (pic).
Filled the tanks before the trip and a quick calc suggests 1.1 mpg average (we have a slow 30mins down the Hamble before we can go anywhere). Will refill and see how we did on this 160 mile trip at a higher cruising speed.
