Hi all,
having been a lurker for quite a few months I've gained a lot of info about motor boats and a lot of what is required to run them.
It has long been a dream of mine to have a boat and spend a lot of time on it in the med somewhere.
My other half had hope that I'd give up eventually but even she is now openly talking about looking into costs etc. Maybe that wee, ahem, accidental walk into the Marina at Split last year did it lol.
Been looking around all the sites for costs of boats and what is available, space etc., I should really be thinking of 40 foot or more. We both like space (though not necessarily our own) so not being cramped is a biggie.
My next step would be to take her to a marina. We're off to Dubrovnik in May so that would be a good opportunity to see them fist hand.
I know it's a long shot but if anyone knows someone that has a flybridge around there I'd be grateful to have a tour of it if possible. Selling her the dream would be a lot easier.
From then on we obviously need to look at real costs, mooring etc. That'll come soon enough.
Oh, and purchase price would be around £120K although it won't be anytime soon. At the minute we are talking about plans for retirement (we're late 40s) in our 50s.
Pass comment if you wish.
