Or it certainly felt a bit like it anyway. Sunday saw our first day at our new Marina - Chichester Yacht Basin as I still know it, but the owners probably prefer Premier Chichester.
Anyway, my paents had a boat here during the 80's so I remember a lot, but it was still going to be the first time using the lock with me in charge so I was a little aprehensive.
As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about and one quickly call on the VHF to the hugely friendly staff in the office had the procedure sorted - call up, wait a short while and lock out. Simple.
Sunday also was crew No.1's first go on the boat. SWMBO and I wewre both a little nervous as to how she would take it, so a little pootle up the harbour and a quick dash to Gosport for lunch seemed like just the ticket.
We need not have worried, despite looking a little unsure at first
She soon got the hang of it and started to enjoy herself
Befor giving it the ultimate seal of approval and falling asleep
That just leaft a leisurly run to Pompy and a stop in Gunwarf Quays. We were put next to a whacking grat big superyacht - Mylin IV or something. Very impressive with lots of crew about. Didnt get a piccie, but did anyone else see her?
Gunwarf was full of boats, but not so many in the harbour as we left
And as it was clouding over we decided to try out juniors wet weather gear - in dashing pink!!!!
Well, you never know when you mght need it, especially with reprobates like these floating about
Still, we motored off on the look out for more reprobates (froumites /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) but they had called it a day early leaving the solent a bit empty
A good fast cruise back at 30knts ish and Georgia went to sleep again until we slowed down to enter the harbour. I think she likes the boat going fast, which is good /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.
Enough time for a tidy up and for little miss to have a go in dads seat
All in all a nice day out. Very pleased with the new marina, and have even decided to join the on site yacht club who have quite an active motors section.
All in all, I think I'm going to enjoy this family boating lark.
Nice to see EddieA albeit briefly exiting the lock on Sunday evening. If wny forumites are around Chi you are more than welcome to come and say hi (in fact, it would be nice). We are on V06 right now, but that might change when the 34 arrives in a few weeks.
