The three dry powder ones that I have aboard are all compacted and past it. Given that dry powder is pretty messy, I thought about replacing them with a pair of CO2 ones. Would that be enough or should I have something else as well ?

CO2 isn't a great idea in a small space as it displaces the oxygen. How about water mist ?

Water Mist Fire Extinguishers - For Most Types of Fire

I went with Water Mist. A bit more expensive, without the toxicity and can be used on most fires. The only down side is that they are quite large compared to dry powder.

Dry powder is only messy if you use the extinguisher which hopefully isn't very likely.
I agree water mist is ideal but bigger in size as said.

An easily accessible bucket with a rope attached to the handle. Good for most fires. I am more worried about a fire in my caravan than my boat as I do none site caravanning so a fire would be a major problem.

Why are you more worried about your caravan? Apart from the engine, boats and caravans are effectively the same regarding fire risk. Interior space, materials, gas cooking. The big difference is you can't run away from a boat.

I've got water mist ones which need renewing as now several years old. Never use Dry Powder as the mess afterwards is appalling and if ingested into engines really messes them up. I have an auto extinguisher in the engine compartment.

The old chestnut again. Why would you fire an extinguisher at a running engine?

What does your auto extinguisher release?

water mist extinguishers are certainly good but can't be stored below freezing. I keep my boat in commission all year and I don't want to have to take them home when not on board in the winter.

Fantastic on electrical fires, liquid fires (fuel etc) or galley fires.

NOT
Not to mention if you’re down below and your exit is blocked by a fire - bash a hole in the hull to fill the bucket?
