Fire at East Cowes Marina

So from what I can see in those pictures the hull isn't breached below the water line? If so she sunk due to the amount of water the FB pumped onto her?

W.
Why would the hull be breached, the fire would only burn down to where ever the water line was ( due to being filled with applied water) that was the only way the fire was going to be extinguished, by sinking.

I suspect that what the air bags [seen in the pictures] were for to lift her enough to get the strops underneath.

Air bags were rigged through the bow thruster tunnel, through the prop aperture and around each stabilser. That was enough to lift her to the surface then divers were able to rig the main strops around the hull for lifting out of the water

Thanks. I didn't think about airbags as I thought there was little left of the hull to attach them too. Had the same thought (how) when I saw that they had put metal cables under Concordia to roll her upright.

Went out fishing today and spotted the hull being transported into Portsmouth Harbour. A sad sight and end to a fine boat.

Looks like it's been cleaned up. Previous pictures showed it looking dirty with soot coming out of the portholes.
Or do I need to go back to Specsavers?

I'm afraid I have to join those in the 'non sentimental' camp.

Whilst this is an unfortunate incident, it was a relatively new boat, appears to have been or would have been chartered, and is for sale by the owner. On that basis I'd question the amount of emotional attachment the owner has to the vessel.

In fact the person I feel most sorry for is the broker who has probably seen a six figure commission go up in smoke.

Needless to say, I hope forumites who have their "pride and joys" moored nearby are unaffected.

That was on stbd side as far as I can see, whilst the last pics show port side only.

I think you just like a good debate Pete

Oh yes bring it on! But I've probably missed the boat on this one.

To be honest though Gary, when you see the poor souls in the Philipines on the tv who have lost everything it does put boating mishaps like this into perspective.

Cheers, Pete
You are absolutely correct, but what I don't understand is why peeps seem to revel in others misfortune, compassion cost nothing.
