You forget, I is bi-boatal /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I also still own a 25ft Birchwood Interceptor /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
But yes, some of them are a bit like that /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Deckard, if you click on my name you'll go to my profile, in there you'll find a link to some other stuff that I've uploaded. Loads more to go yet, it hasn't been easy getting her like this, but if you want to see more send a PM and I'll give you the key to where all the pic's are uploaded so you get more idea what you would be letting yourself in for.
There are some that say a plywood boat isn't a classic, and there are those that say it's just throwing good money after bad. But I don't care, she's my boat (or am I just the current custodian ?) and I think she's great.
I would do a thread about her renovation but I think people are getting bored hearing about it now /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"You forget, I is bi-boatal"

Ah well, there are deviants in every sphere of life!....You don't live in Brighton do you? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Don't start on that or I'll set Pauline on you /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Luckily I don't think she comes in here /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

"I would do a thread about her renovation but I think people are getting bored hearing about it now"

Probably! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

However, I would second the opinion that plywood boats have a lot going for them, if one has a modicum of joinery skills they are easy to look after, and the Debutante is one of the better ones, designed as an IOR racer if I recall correctly?

The bilge keels can be a weakness, but if you keep an eye on them usually just fine. I have wanted one for a long time, but have never had the joining together of cash and availability.

Aaaaaaw. I am not scared of her, since she told me to *uck off, she hasn't spoken to me, I guess she knows when she is beat. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Cheers, Sixp: I'll do that soon (I am at work at the moment)

As for plywood, I own a plywood boat and I absolutely love her! She may not be called a "classic" boat but she's lovely (By the way, how can I post a couple of pics of her?)

I would love to save her even more than buying a new one. I have been told what to do by a friend that unfortunately (for me) is in Trinidad on his 44 foot ferro ketch, so I guess that if you don't mind in the immediate future I'll ask you a few questions, once I'll have worked out more precisely what to do /how

Cheers

Don't know if they were designed as a racer, but she's certainly a comfortable sail. Apparently they sail best when sitting as upright as possible but I still had my windows washed on the last trip. Told the helm to play with her while I navigated, next thing I know there's water shooting past them.
Triple keel is what I call a fin keeler with stabilisers, perfect for a learner.

No they weren't.....my memory is not what it was, but this quoted from classic notes....

"Caused a stir?
The Mark II Debutante met the old JOG requirements and was the first mass production twin-keeled cruiser to race offshore."

Simplest way to post a photo is to go Here and open a free account, then upload to there
Once uploaded, hover your cursor over the picture and a few boxes will reveal under it, click on the bottom one to highlight it, then right click it
click 'copy'
come back here and right click where you want to post the picture, then click 'paste' and you should see a bit of code
click 'preview post' to make sure it's there, then post it
Best to set the picture size to 640 X 480 in options though

As for asking me, there's plenty on here that know more than I could hope to know, so ask away and someone will probably beat me to it

Might also help to include some stuff in your bio like location etc. but don't feel obliged to, it just helps if people know where you are sometimes. Even more so if someone with a similar boat or experience is just around the bend. But then most of us with wooden boats are a bit around the bend anyway, allegedly

Thanks for that, I keep forgetting where that page is. Not sure what Robert Tucker would say to my work but I hope he would be happy

good point: as I was new, I was a bit "shy", but will do that soon

(hey, I just saw your latest pics on this thread: stunning job!)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!............It's not really mauve inside is it????? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looks like you have done a half decent job...........

What happened to the other half? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just kidding, looks very nice! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Mauve ?? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Mauve ?? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Herself was responsible for the decorating and she's quite picky about what colour she decided on, all I know is it's some kind of pale blue /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Couldn't have done it without her though, she kept finding wood rot every time she went near the boat /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yes I saw the thread where you tried to flog herself off, to any poor forumite that............

Well I had better not say anymore /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

If you ever want to sell it, I will quite willingly give you 4/6d for it......The boat that is, not herself! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
