We like to do a bit of serious TV watching over Christmas. Can anyone recommend a good film to watch so that I can order it in time. I like something with boats in but I am getting rather tired of the same old ones and wonder if anyone can find any other boating type films that we can keep onboard. One of my favourites is Sahara as I am a fan of Huntons. I never get fed up of African Queen, but my women does not like watching Titanic when we are away from the berth...........

Women? Crikey how many have you got?

How about Lawrence of Arabia? Ships of the desert in that one

Star Trek First Contact - Spaceships in that one

One of my fave boating films is Caddyshack which has a hilarious powerboating sequence with a great ending (unless you're a yottie). Otherwise Apocalypse Now is just a great film with the patrol boat being the star of the film IMHO!

The cruel sea
The Riddle of the Sands
Master and Commander. The far side of the world
Down to the sea in ships
Knife in the Water
Moby Dick
1492 Conquest of Paradise

That should keep you busy for a while.

Not film, but, Grand tours of Scotland on iplayer Has got some good boaty bits if you can put up with his accent.
