Fifty Feet of Grey (steel)

More Exhibits Than Southampton?

no comparison,

METS is the biggest and most interesting boat related show I've ever been to
especially if you're building or rebuilding a boat,
all suppliers to the yards are there,
a real professional show, and VERY big,
its a show for professionals but interesting for us amateurs to know what's available, and where to get it....

@Rob,
good luck with your nice and challenging project,
will be following with much interest,
so keep us updated pls

Thanks very much MapisM...
My pleasure. But I'm afraid I have no good news.
Today I spoke with Mr.AC, the CMC owner, and in a nutshell he confirmed that they can't offer you an appropriate stabs/thrusters equipment for the boat you are building.
Btw, he also told me that he did see an email of yours, with some drawings attached, and he thought that someone of his staff should have sent you a reply, but either they just didn't, or it got lost in the cyberspace.
Anyway, a few more details just for the records:
He confirmed that the model installed on BA is the smaller they are currently building, and he surely wouldn't recommend it for anything much smaller than BA - both in terms of size and displacement.
The same goes for electric thrusters, because they only build them with AC motors, and the smaller one is 18kW, with a 30cm diameter tunnel.
I also asked him if by chance they are planning to build some smaller stuff, but he told me that this is not likely to happen, in the foreseeable future.

That said, even assuming that you'll have to go for hydraulics with the stabs sooner or later, in your boots I wouldn't rule out electric for all the rest.
For instance, ABT and Maxwell (for thrusters and winches respectively) build some very good DC equipment, with more than enough power for a 50' - and with an obviously simpler installation and operation, compared to hydraulics.
Anyhow, METS surely is the perfect place to go for hearing more about all that, directly from the equipment builders.
All the best for your "equipment hunting"! :)

That's a no then :)
Thanks anyway.

You see my dilemma, that most of the equipment is dependant on its partnering equipment.
I have some paperwork to go through from sleipner, but here at work does not make it easy.
I have tank sizes, weights etc all to add up.
60 litre tank volume came from osmotech who are looking in to it for me.

These are some more detailed 3d images.
Cutting should be finished end of next week, for delivery first week of November.
We have had some delays, but nothing insurmountable.
I am really, really, impressed....

I hope you have decided only to have one set of steps to the flybridge ...and which side they are to be on with the corresponding opening... or is this a new safety feature ... one staircase going up and another going down (if I were a rich man....) :)

why 2 FB stairs ?
such a waste of space both on the FB and Cockpit,

also the separation to sidewalks in the cockpit seems loss of space imho

Looking fab rob
But the fly dash looks too narrow for today's nav screens, imho. The gap between the two steel cheeks needs to be say 1.4m, so you can fit 2 big screens + wheel, and line up with 2 helm chairs

Agreed. I can see no point in putting an inner coaming around the cockpit to separate the side decks. It just makes the cockpit smaller and potentially makes line handling more difficult. But otherwise she's a good looking boat IMHO and I especially like the full flybridge overhang

Totally agree John. Detail section, like this are a standard type for the dutch rivers cruising etc. not suited for seagoing imo.
But, i have thrown enough at the designer this month, and with issues that we/they have had, which i wont bore you with here, has meant enough delays. Its something that will not be fitted, and a more suitable unit designer when we have more time. (Like when i get out of here)
The lower helm will be well catered for, with the screens going in to the flybridge floor/frontal area, angled down. (In the flybridge console) Then there is no issue with reflections either. Although I am impressed how little problems I have with that on my current boat.
