I have seen a boat with its fenders attached via navy blue 'ribbons' rather than the usual three strand rope, might anybody have an idea where these can be obtained from?

Is it not just ordinary webbing?

If there are sewn loops in the ends then they may have been made by a sailmaker as sail ties. But obviously this isn't a job requiring sailmaking skills, I'd just buy ten metres of webbing on eBay and sew it myself.

The sail ties is a good analogy but if its webbing then its a lot narrower than I have seen before. I will have another look at the weekend

Outer braid would make sense as it has a shiny finish but it has been cut very neatly in two if that is the case

I use old braid-on-braid rope (usually old in-mast furling lines). Much easier to handle.

Until this season the lines for my bow fender were an old kevlar traveller rope off a laser which must date back some 20 years
