Felixstowe Port

Felixtowe complain thatmuch of its problems come from being unable to clear the site of containers, Whether they be full or empty. Logistical problems carrying on from covid & lorry driver shortages etc has delayed throughput of containers in the site making it difficult to unload the vessels.

This is certainly true. It’s a problem that Gateway don’t have - at the moment.

In an effort to improve things Felixstowe have jacked up their storage fees to rather precisely the point at which it pays to truck a box out rather than leave it for 14 days.

I heard someone say that all goods arriving in Felixstowe have to be trucked to some central location (in the Midlands?) for customs clearance, whereas at London Gateway they are cleared before they leave the port. Is that correct? It would seem to be a big disadvantage for Felixstowe (but an advantage to the diesel and trucking industries) if it is.

I’m happy to say that this is mistaken.

My ex father-in-law was a designer at Port of Felixstowe. His bedroom window also overlooked the port so he could see when the jibs were working. He always said that when the jibs were pointing at the sky there was a recession coming.
This was the scene on 2nd June this year and last week we saw it with only one container ship.
Doesn’t look good.

You had nuffin to correct

"The Profit of Doom" is a single by doom metal band Type O Negative from the 2007 album Dead Again. The single version of the song is 4½ minutes long, but lasts nearly eleven minutes on the album. The single was released just before the album was released in February 2007. A music video was released for the song.

The song begins with slow, heavy riffs, with a chorus in the style of King Crimson before some additional doom metal riffs, and ending with a doom metal solo. The lyrics refer to the asteroid 99942 Apophis; which, at that time, was said to have a possibility of hitting the Earth on Friday, April 13, 2029.

[Verse 3]
April 2-0-2-9
The final time
The end, my friend, is not near
The hour, in fact is quite here
When the moon becomes red to guide the risen dead
This means God's turned his back on you
It's a Friday the 13th, of course you won't live to see noon
