Well the gates went. Huge crane. The temporary bridge was not compatible with the old supports. Or something similar.
I like Faversham but the creek really really needs dredging!!!
Bring back the BP Haulier!

She was built in Faversham and kept the creek in good order for twenty years!

My dad had a yacht moored at Hollowshore around then and the Shipwrights seemed quite happy to serve children that they knew with beer. They also told your parents as well, so well controlled. Watching the tanker reverse upward interesting along with how it turned round to start with just beyond the pub.... on a bank in the creek almost within sight of the Shipwright’s Arms and was waiting for the tide to make when several hundred tons of coastal tanker went past us going up the creek backwards!
Did I feel inadequate!?
Well, much to local relief, there is a temporary bridge in place.
Wonder how long temporary means.
As for dredging the basin or the channel, watch this space.
Sort of the point I was trying to make.A "temporary" Bailey bridge over the Medway at Aylesford was there for about............ 20 years![]()
