I always appreciate presents for Fathers day; I am grateful and lucky; but I have never been given anything to do with sailing; I suppose they assume that I have everything to do with sailing and there is no need for more; however, next year I will give them some clues well before fathers day. Did anyone got any sailing toys for fathers Day?

I am lucky in comparison...

I was given a mounted picture of my yacht club on Isola di Nisida, Nr Naples, with my sailing 'back yard' of Pozzuoli, Procida and Ischi in the background. Very nice it is too.

After our family sailing holiday in Greece a couple of weeks ago my other present was a 6th Edn 'Heavy Weather Sailing' by Peter Bruce...are they trying to tell me something???

Setting up a 'wish list' on Amazon is always a good way to influence the present game.

Good luck for your birthday and Christmas.

Andy

Lunch in the Ketch Rigger, Hamble Point. Does that count ? Lovely meal, and spent the rest of the afternoon doing not very much, finished off with a couple of pints in the King & Queen !

Is my family unusual in boycotting these spurious "days" foisted on us by rapacious retailers and advertisers? I am proud to have never given or received anything on Fathers' Day, we do not acknowledge Mothers'Day (US or UK), do not celebrate Valentine's Day, don't exchange Easter Cards and don't do anything special at Hallowe'en. We do give gifts for birthdays and Christmas.

I am also against fathers, mothers, valentines (card selling days) and my boys know that.
However we got new yacht club cards a couple of weeks ago, No. 2 was """"" cadet, No 1 was """" junior and I was "ordinary" thankfully they know I am not ordinary and bought me Superman PJ's (which I never use) but its the thought that counts.
