Fambridge Yacht Haven

Really just a general feel of the place, how well it's run etc.
Only specific is will the management throw their toys out of the pram if I sleep on the boat whilst on the hard. I live in Northampton and will be spending weekends working on boat so saturday nights will have to be on board.

They will be fine with that. I've done it as have several others that I know of. Pretty normal for most folks!

they are very nice people there and you will meet some lovely forumites too :-)
All sounds good. I may take a run down there on saturday to have a chat with the staff an look around.

Certainly will. If you see a grey haired old codger doing a whippet impression (skinny) wanding around the visitor pontoon looking lost it will probably be me.

+1 for the nice people that run FYH. They also provide a small area where there is a workbench and vice under cover that is useful. There are also covered sheds for hire which keep the snow off in the winter!! I'll also be in the yard this winter (Pioneer) and my friend's boat (Freebee) is already in the shed in readiness for toe rail re-seating, rubbing strake joint remaking, deck painting etc etc. whilst I am fitting second battery/relay/isolators and resealing the companionway etcWe'll be around most weeks in the winter and intend staying on board for some of the time. If you (and any other forumites) are around pls say hi.

Hi Dave, we live just along the A43 from you in Broughton just outside of Kettering and we've been at Fambridge for three years now and although we've been tempted by pastures new we like it there so we're staying!

It's a very sensibly run place in our experience (mostly at the yacht station on the swinging moorings) without too many silly rules or too much officiousness. The staff are great and go out of their way to help

The facilities are fantastic and keep getting better. Yacht Havens, whilst not charging the earth and without putting prices up either, have invested heavily in the site and continue to do so.

Erbas is now in the marina for the winter as we're trying out the Summer Swing package this year rather than lifting out. Haven't a clue where in the marina though as it appears from what I can make out on the webcam that they're dredging the berths around where we left her the other week! We'll be down next weekend (this coming weekend is a working weekend <sigh>)

I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fambridge based on our experience

I would recommend the place.

Very good value for money.Good facilities, Leccy water everywhere. There are two sites, one on the river and one in a creek. The marina in the creek is extremely well sheltered. You can hire a container of bits Etc if hou want.

The only downside is the lack of chandlery and shops. Though there is a wonderful game butcher on the way in, also very good engineering services close by in Maldon, Burnham fir when you need complex jobs doing..

We are in the river site. Look for the cat..

The only downside is the distance to really open water, 18 miles to the end of the Crouch.
