I am planning to sail the boat down to Falmouth on Tuesday. Where would one suggest is a good place to rendevous with SWMBO who will be travelling down by car. The plan is for my crew to drive the car back.

Watch out at Pendenis, it's a private car park and not allways friendly.

Mylor is ok, but remember to buy a car park ticket, clampers are keen. You have the advantage of cafe etc on site for SWMBO. If high water park on New quay ( by Church ), and you can do a quick tie up change-over with car by boat.

The visitors' marina is convenient and central but the car park is small.

Your profile doesn't say anything about your boat but if by chance you have more than one hull, avoid Mylor like the plague.

Why not put into Falmouth Marina? Car park, easy to find (but to avoid the shallows look at the approach chart very carefully). It is a Premier Marina, all details and contact numbers will be on their website.

No, but I object strongly to tying up alongside occupying 40 ft of pontoon and being charged for 80ft.

Totally agree, left a Mylor mooring years ago when they charged me £140 ( 27 foot ) to put the boat in the water, that was around 15 years ago.

Since the new outfit it's got even worse, and parking !!! got a bill for £60 because my parking pass fell over face down. They even took a picture to show it was a Mylor pass face down.

Still pay annual car park pass, but that's all, otherwise would not touch it with a bargepole, unless I win the lottery that is.

Falmouth marina would be my choice, ease of parking and with Premier you know what you are getting

Yes but don't expect to get a space it is very full this time of year. we were in their a few weeks ago and it's chocker. my advice would be to phone in advance. be careful there not much water at LW.... we hit the bottom a few times then decided to wait on the fuel pontoon for a few hours.

As well as the above, you could tie up at the Town Marina which is central, and use the car park by the shops/museum only a short distance away, which is what we did recently when meeting someone - but for a short stay.

A bit closer would be the parking by the station either street or carpark.

Thank you for all of the above. What has happened to the Port Falmouth Marina? Reeds mention it was due to open in late 2008.

They hope to open next year, see the other thread
