So, I’m taking a few months time out in 2024 and considering a return trip from Poole to Isles of Scilly. Its early in my planning but yes, I’m aware its circa 360nm as the seagull flies and probably 460-500nm as I want to stop off at as many marinas as I can along the way so. At cruising speed the KAD300s burn approx. 1.5mpg so 1,500L is probably the worst case. But I’m not going to be in a rush and plan a displacement trip (picking good weather windows) overall with some WOT here and there, so fuel burn will be (a lot) less. 2 week holidays have limited my western journeys to Dartmouth over the years but I’m wondering what advice and experience is out there for planning especially beyond Falmouth marinas. Ive struggled to get information from St. Marys about berthing (no replies to my emails (yet) and in process of updating from my 2017 Almanac). Ive got a genset so don’t always need marina/pontoons but don’t want to dry out on drives! Many thanks.

Definitely worth the effort, get down somewhere in the vicinity and wait for a settled period of weather, you won’t be disappointed. Its a couple of years since we were last there but we were told of a possible fuel issue (contamination) so chose not to refuel whilst there.
Might add it can get pretty busy peak season so a mooring bouy could be difficult to find so prepare to anchor at times.

We did the scilly isles in ourTarga 39, made our way to Falmouth actually moored in Mylor.
Fueled up there and then over to Scilly Isle about 70m weather was kind .
Stayed 3 days in St Marys had to share swing moorings .
This was a new experience when the tide turns in St Mary bay the outer swing moorings with boats on start to swing probaly 25min before the inner mooring start to swing gets a bit lively for about an hour, with boat hooks etc make sure your well fenderd up.
Lovely place, use water taxi or tender to go over Tresco. Enjoy it

If you’ve a few months do consider a trip over to west France. Way back in 2003 we did a trip with our Targa 39 from Portsmouth to La Rochelle and back. We were back in the Helford river by the end of July having had a proper adventure in what is s beguiling cruising ground.

Im aware that Rick Channon did some articles for MBY on anchorages and marinas around the Fal. in Sept 19 and Oct 20 . I appear to have culled my copies.!! Would anyone still have their copies and could send me a jpg images ?
Many thanks
