Fairline taps

We have a slight leak on our galley tap so can any one tell me who supplied fairline in 1991.so I can either replace the washer or replace the tap.it's a single spout mixer,regards mm1.

Opella used to make the basin shower mixers, might also have made the galley taps. They no longer make taps or spares so B&Q might be your best bet.

I second the guys from PenguinEng, I would not go anywhere else for plumbing bits for the boat. What I like about them apart from them knowing their stuff is that they carry spares for the items they sell, even at the boat shows. Well they have for the items I was asking about.

The taps on my T35 used to have an annoying drip, but were fixed by cleaning the barrel inside. Remove the screws from the red and blue end caps and prise them out of the casing. Then pull out the plastic barrel from inside the casing. One face of the plastic barrel has an aluminium covering and gets a scale deposit on it. Gently clean it with a pan scourer. Smear with vaseline and reassemble. Took me about an hour to do the galley and the wet bar.

I have had exactly the same issue with my '93 Targa 31. Resolution after much searching was to 'rub' the face of the rubber washer with wet and dry paper to 'revitalise' the surface. Worked a treat and has not dripped in 6 months. Put the wet and dry on a flat surface and rub the washer onto that to ensure a flat finish.

thanks Targa 31.just out of interest i plan to depressurise the system will that be enough so as not to leak every where when i dismantle the tap,regards mm1.

Hi, yes on my system simply turning off the pump, opening a couple of taps (both hot and cold) then putting a tea towel around the tap is sufficient to catch any water. Good luck. I couldn't find the spares anywhere so was glad to be able to fix what was a simple perished washer.

Re. Fairline Targa tap

Hi- on my 1989 Fairline Targa I replaced my galley tap with one from Screwfix. Really good quality and fits in the mounting holes of the old mixer tap. Have a look at their “Deck Sink Mixer Taps” range, but check the pressure … but you probably knew that. I did have to replace the “quick fit” tap connectors, but only because of the age of the old fittings and I got them from Wickes.

I know the problem with mine was to change the taps would have been a 'sink out' job. Not nice. I would imagine given how solid and simple the tap units are they don't go wrong too often and it's more likely to be a serviceable item like a washer? (but I couldn't source a replacement washer!)
