Fairline Phantom 46, your experiences appreciated.

Really, you serious? :-) Blimey I'd no idea. I bought it quickly - was on a friend's boat in France a week after SIBS talking about getting a new boat and he told me EBY had the oak one at SIBS (i didn't get to the show). We called James Barke and he quoted a fair sounding price for a quick no-messing sale so I went to see it 3 days later and pretty much bought it there and then (I think I allowed myself a week cooling off, to no avail of course, before bank transferring the deposit).

I expect the two shrinkwrapped ones (both dark wood, btw) could be got for less than I paid. They must surely be motivated hard to sell them now, you'd have thought. You want more details on them?

do Phantom 46 loose there speeds in the UK as in the med

Don't all boats? Mine lost 2kts between when I sea trialled her in Holland and when I shipped her to the Med

Interesting to see if jfm can do speed comparison on his new Sq58 between UK and Med?

Will do. IIRC I lost a knot on the old boat between Vmax as I drove her to the ship in UK and Vmax driving her off the ship in Genoa. And that was March, cool weather in Med. Lost another 1 knot by the time hot summer arrived. So I'd agree your 2 knot thing. I'll compare the new boat if I get the chance. UK waters of course can have a knot of tide very easily! So I'll note the paddle wheel STW readings

I seatrialled my boat on the Isselmeer so no tides but we did load all our stuff onto her prior to trucking her down to Med, including the tender, so I was never quite sure how much of the speed loss was due to the Med and how much due to extra weight
PY's figures for the P46 seem a bit extreme though (3-4kts). My guess is that this is also due the difference between a UK spec boat and a Med spec one ie. including big gennie, aircon, pasarelle etc

I've hardly noticed the difference, although I didn't do any scientific speed trials in the UK. Maybe i've lost a knot, but definitely not much more than that.

Even though my boat and engines are smaller than yours and Mikes I also seem to be 2 knots against manufacturers quoted performance figures.
