Boring question, yes please flame me now.

On the 12v/240v distribution panel there are two small switches marked "Ship" and "Shore". They are on the 240v side of the panel, above the voltmeter and close to the RCD swith. What do they do? Whatever way they are switched they seem to have no effect on anything.

Any ideas?

tcm,

I wondered that, but no they don't seem to. I ask the question because I've just had flat domestics. I've been watching the voltmeter only to find out that it seems to measure the engine start battery not the domestics hence I thought I had full charge when the reality was somewhat different! So was thinking that this switch might change the volt meter between the battery banks - but it doesn't seem to

I think it's for when a "Genny" is fitted. Shore power or Ship power (generator). I have similar and that's what it's for on mine.

does the voltmeter measure to about 20 volts? Or does it measure along the scale of 240 ish volts? If the latter, then as kevb says (and i said badly) then it may well be giving a reading of shorepower voltage, and the switch to generator (ship) voltage available. Possibly.

the voltmeter goes up to 260'ish volts. Sounds like your idea is the right one tcm. ta.

Agree with KevB. I have similar switches on my boat which give you the choice of 240V power from either shore or ship (gennie)

This is the standard panel fitted to all Targa39s it is used in conjunction with the optional generator and prevents powers from provided from both sources simultaneously. If you dont have a generator this will not be connected
the port engine battery is wired in parallel with the domestic battery.Has your boat been re engined as Targa 39s were not factory fitted with KAD43s

Thanks, that's helpful.

I've had my KAD42's effectively upgraded to KAD43's by the addition of the supercharger silencer pack. I am told that the only significant difference between the 42 and 4s is the supercharger silencers. £750 well spent.
