This weekend sees the start of the 142nd edition of the world's oldest football competition. By later on Sunday, the initial 416 club entries will be down to 208. Then the next tiers join in.

Goes to show that Sporting Endeavour is alive and well in the UK (our tartan cousins are under way with their cup too) . Lardyism is perhaps not quite the thing that some seniors believe. The effort put in by players, coaches, supporters is, I think, to be applauded.

Add on the successes in the Ladies game and there's hope for fit Britain yet!

Local Galician tv doesn’t seem to have any days where football is not its main feature in the sport section. Is footy played all year round now?

Catch the giant egg and sniff each others bottoms......

Until you have played second row in a summers mixed game with the ladies of the club you don't know what you are missing. But by all accounts you don't want to play in the front row unless you don't mind the dangly bits squeezed a little.

My brief rugby carreer on the pitch really ended running into (didn’t have specs on) navy prop forward in the half dark of a winters afternoon,he didn’t move, like a rock….too much for secondary school player?
