External Woodfiller

Anybody recommend any suitable woodfiller to repair cosmetic damage to rubbing strake that can then be varnished over.

Make up your own.
Mix hardwood saw dust with araldite and use it as a filler. When it is rubbed down and varnished it should be pretty good.

it comes up black, I used the same thing for some cosnmetic mast splits. I use "Brummer" wood filler for any stuff I'm going to varnish over, obtainable from B&Q etc.

Colin - does that darken as you varnish?

Not normally, it's a cellulose based stuff, which almost goes off as your putting it in, you can sand it after a couple of hours, then varnish, it comes in different wood cloours, teak , mahogany etc. If anything it's a little light in colour.

Make your own: the best way to get a colour match: mix sawdust or sanding dust from the wood with epoxy and cotton filler.
