"Nice picture of Pete Hasler's "Dandy Regent" from Bray."

"Boat owners and skippers, many of whom are not familiar with the vagaries of the Thames, "

Yikes !

Fortunately, there are no islands for them to collide with :D in the reaches they will be navigating and, as the barrier will be closed for the duration of the pageant, they will have no tidal streams to contend with.

And, with certain well know members of this forum on Chelsea Bridge to keep an eye on them, what could possibly go wrong ? :D

Presume the "N" on your key board is jammed up with chocolate biscuit goo again...........................

Just been reading an interview in my newspaper with Adrian Evans.

Evans is determined the 75-minute event will be "exciting theatrically" and has told the skippers to "cluster" in close proximity. "They are navigating at one boat's distance which takes an extraordinary confidence," he says. Only sailors with experience of tidal waters have been permitted to take part.

Phew thats OK then....................

I should imagine jostling for position with numerous boats at close proximity to get into St Katharine's Dock on a busy bank holiday would be more of a liability though?

I feel sure that all the leisure boats going on the QJP are purely there due to careful condideration of the skippers tidal experience and ability to navigate in close formation with 50 or so other craft...............................................

..........................and nothing what so ever to do with merely being moored on the Thames and being in a Thames based club ?
