Expand Ostende 2007?

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

Dave make sure you check ( assuming shes plywood) along the gunnel's for rot. my first " Yacht" was a 17 ft 6 ins Silhouette Mk 2 trailed her home behind my Mini Van from Hastings ( mainly 3 rd gear ) found rot as mentioned behind the gunnel / strake capping due to fresh water ingress. i did sort the problem but a job i didn't need at the time.
that aside the very best of luck & good sailing /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

My dad is suggesting to go at the end of June instead of August for the purposes of good light.
Now for another dopey question:
I take it I or someone on the boat needs an ICC or is it a CEVNI documentation? Must the boat have specific registration to go in and out of ostend?

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

No qualification of any kind neeeded, other than VHF cert.... don't forget your other docs thought, like VAT cert, insurance, passports etc, as there were several police inspections last year... quite polite and civil though...

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

Now then.
I do not have a VAT receipt for Sirenia.
I have the bill of sale from when I purchased her.
I also have invoices for work carried out on her over the last 6 years.
She was commissioned in 1986.
Do I have a problem?

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

I think that's one of my worries too , how can anyone produce a VAT certificate for an older boat , or any other paperwork for that matter

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

I had better not make her look to new then. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Intending to paint the topsides before launch.
If I can get the son interested in rubbing the hull down.

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

I'm going to quietly whisper this question:
Where can I (er) renew my VHF owners certificate?

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

Anywhere - if you know the phonetic alphabet and don't say "over and out" it's almost impossible to fail this course.

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

that's one of the reasons I get annoyed with these courses , ex RAF radio tech , ex plod where you had to stick to procedures , and known the phonetic alphabet since 1972 ,,,,,,,,, but I still have to pay for a course to get a licence

Re: Expand Oostende 2007?

I was meaning the radio licence rather than hte operator's licence.
I'm doing the operator's licence course with Dream2reality sailing, courses on an wooden 43 footer out of Walton.
Run by Richard, a very likeable man.
