Evening, just looking at both of these, both around £95 mark, just wondered if anyone has experience of either of them or both, any pros or cons ... Many thanks in advance.

I have a number of other NASA electronics and they perform well. Plus they have an actual phone number which if you call you speak directly to a member of their team, which I like.

I have recently bought and installed the Silicone Marine SM007D. The probes are very well made and insert into the rubber discharge hoses, so they pick temperature changes up very quickly, and they are firmly held in place with large jubilee clips. They also extend the cables for me at no extra cost.

The display is smart and the unit looks great on my dash display. It worked first time, and the alarm threshold was easy to adjust.

I would certainly recommend it.

Not had any experience with either but having looked at both, the Silicone Marine would be my choice. A single unit for two engines rather than two separate displays, a visual history of engine temp., NMEA output (although not clear if 0183 or N2K but I assume 1183), longer cables for the sensor can be suppled, each display can be re-named ie Port, Stbd, Geny etc, a decent instruction sheet on how to configure temperature thresholds etc. Plus cheaper than the NASA unit.

I still prefer an alarm on the cooling water inlet rather than outlet but as that involves some replumbing and I want to fit different water strainers, I'll fit a SM unit for both engines and the genset first.

Hi folks
Thank you for your replies ... Doesn't sound like there's much between them except silicone one does a bit more. Think I'll go for that one.

Thanks again

I know its cheapskate and not what's asked in OP's post ... but I used a Kitchen Temp probe / display .....

Bound the probe to exhaust pipe near engine to its UNDERSIDE ... that way if water stops ... pipe gets hot quickly as there's no water cooling it.
Display has user settable alarm for Min and Max if wanted.

Later as I needed a temp probe / alarm for my Laser Cutter machines water cooling - I nicked it off the boat and never replaced it !! One day I will.
