Exchange Sails

Today I was promised a call back by 11.30 am at the latest, which of course didn't happen. I called just after to be told that John wasnt available, surprise surprise! They are now being very evasive. I wouldnt be at all surprised if they now go back on their offer, all these weeks later!

I'm afraid waiting for a call back is a waste of time. They have a mobile, 07703329636, which may be worth trying. You will also need to ring on different numbers. I had calls put down when they transferred me to John etc.
I was very displeased with the way I was dealt with. I was at the stage of taking a day off work and driving up there to sort it out.

Just had a call back from John, finally!

They seem to be aware of this thread already, as John has just mentioned it to me, other members of the forum have mentioned to him that I have been 'slating' them on here. As I have explained to him, all I have done is explained the situation I have faced from start to finish and given a true account of this long saga, and to be honest I have been very fair towards Westaway Sails / Exchange sails in my aproach - but now they have pushed my patience to the limits.

The latest is that I have been promised the sail by this coming Wednesday. I wont be holding my breath, as I have had these promises before. But I will wait and see what comes of it.

One of their reasons was down to the their CAD software going down. After that was resolved, I was told the sail was near completion and was almost ready to be sent out that was weeks ago. One of the times I called, I was told it had been completed, and they would get a tracking number for the delivery.

Again, it is still nearly ready to be sent out just the finishing touches. So.....lets see what they come up with.

I was asked, 'what can we do to make it right?', a refund was hinted at, but as I said to John, all I want is for the sail to arrive in good order, made to a quality finish as initially agreed. I am not being unreasonable with this.

Now have resolution. Just phoned them and although it hasn't sold yet they've made me an offer of purchase which I have accepted. Just glad to get rid of something that has sat in a locker, unused, for 10 years. Perhaps it has been this thread that has helped. Anyway, thanks to them for eventually sorting.

Have you actually got the money?

stevd,

I think you have been reasonable beyond the call of duty, for which they should be grateful; many if not most people would have sent the boys round a very long time ago !

I'd seriously consider a refund - at the every least it will eliminate most of their seemingly fictional excuses.

It would seem overwhelmingly likely that there is so new sail and that if there is it won't be right.

Perhaps I'll ask ianbatt for advice!

Or try a little persuasion ...

Just a quick update, the new sail did arrive yesterday. I havent really opened it out yet, was going to wait until I took it to the boat. Its a lot lighter than I was expecting, so I hope that it isn't a really leightweight material used. I will give a full feedback once I have got the sail opened up and on the boat.

I have been told that the Genoa for my Moody 33 has been made with a sailcloth weighing 7.2oz. Will get the sail on the boat over the weekend.
