Indeed. Type 'chirp' and google does the rest. Operators such as 'is' and 'a' are ignored by google as they are irrelevant. I suspect that 'what' may be treated in the same way. Search correctly and chirp.co.uk is top of the list.

It's not about whether you can search Google for answers, it's a matter of *when* you should ask in a friendly forum.
If everyone Googled for answers instead of asking on the forum, there'd be a lot less posts!
Many times in posts recently I've seen TLAs used, and when I Googled them it gave inaccurate results such as Mid Western Community or something like that.
Wouldn't it be easier if you assumed that the readers of your posts weren't hardened sea-dogs with 60 years experience man and boy, and maybe don't use an abbreviation on the first time of use?
Or just don't get quite so spikey when they dare to ask what?

It's a joke, based on the conversation here.. - TLA Means Three Letter Acronym, so when you abbreviate a long technical term with a letter standing for the first letter of each word in your term, you call it a TLA. Of course you can have four letters or even five, but the generic term is a TLA.

There was that Twister lost with all hands a few years ago in the North Sea, so, yes, it does happen. The unresolved incident of the dredger and Orca happened in full daylight, so I would be reluctant to put my trust in luck and the other skipper's goodwill or competence.

I was out in the same place the following night on the way to Den Helder. Lovely day (no wind), but the haze settled at darkness, and it was impossible to tell how far you could see - all you knew was it wasn't very far. I can still feel being acutely aware of ship engine noises close by, but saw not one ship light or nav marks till the fog liftet in the morning. One of the most scary sails I have had.
