Excel Show

Not been on for a while but enjoyed the boat show nice for a change to not have to wait to view a boat. The question i want to ask is why host a boat show in the worst finacial month of the year. Why not have the boat show in the summer when everyone have been on there boat and maybe are more in the boating sprit. May be a silly question but i thought i would ask it anyway.

I never understood the boat shows in december and january.

Quite agree that spring / summer would be better. I know i'd be far more likely to attend with a 'shopping list'.

I have had a look at the recent topics/subjects and 7 out of the last 30 are all about boat shows.

Is no one else bored by the subject ? I am.

Ok, Ok, I don't have to read them but it does seem rather a lot.

To answer your question, the original function of LIBS was to stimulate sales of boats for the coming boating season. Similarly, SIBS is supposed to stimulate boat sales to keep the builders going over winter. So, the idea of LIBS and SIBS is to keep the builders going throughout the whole year. That was the theory. So a summer exhibition doesn't make sense in those terms. Also of course we're all supposed to be on our boats in the summer

It takes a while to build a boat, so the Boat Shows are timed such that you can order a boat and have it delivered in time for the next season.

.. and most of the boats on display are customers boats, who will want to be using them in the summer
